For the past 7 years, Jay Gumbiner has been recognized as the leading expert on market trends, competitive positioning and channel dynamics for the consumer and commercial devices business in Latin America. His specific areas of expertise include PCs, Printers, MFPs, Printer Supplies, Mobile Phones, and Handheld Devices. As Director of Consumer and Commercial Devices Research at IDC Latin America, Jay is responsible for coordinating IDC's analysis of device research across a dozen countries in the region through quarterly, semiannual, and annual studies and together with his team of analysts provides IDC’s clients with detailed insight via market sizing, competitive analysis, forecasts, and advisory services.

He is regularly quoted in the media, including The Wall Street Journal, CNN, América Economía, BBC and Latin Trade Magazine and appears frequently as a guest commentator on television networks such as Bloomberg Latin America.

Prior to joining IDC in 1999, Mr. Gumbiner worked for Fibertel where he was responsible for developing promotional and pricing strategies in Argentina. Prior to Fibertel, he was a Territory Sales Manager for Philip Morris.
He received a Master’s Degree in International Business from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor’s in Economics and Political Science from the University of Washington. Mr. Gumbiner is fluent in Spanish and conversant in Portuguese.
